Google Says a Fix Is Rolling Out for Android Auto Connection Problems on Samsung Phones With One UI 9

Google says an update is rolling out to fix Android Auto connection problems affecting Samsung Galaxy phones that have installed the One UI 9 update. A Google spokesperson confirmed on November 2, 2026 that the fix is being delivered and that the issue should be resolved soon. Google had earlier acknowledged the problem in a response to a submission on the Android Auto Help page.

The connection failures surfaced as One UI 9, Samsung’s latest Android update, continues to reach additional Galaxy devices each week.

Android Auto Problems Reported After the One UI 9 Update

Owners of Galaxy phones running One UI 9 report three types of Android Auto failures:

  • random disconnects from the car’s head unit during a drive
  • phones that fail to connect to Android Auto at all
  • audio stuttering that some users say has become worse since the update

The problem is not limited to a single Samsung model. User reports point to a wide range of Galaxy handsets that have received One UI 9, so owners of older and current models alike can run into the disconnects.

One UI 9 has already had one major bug, which Samsung has since fixed. The Android Auto issue is the second notable problem tied to the update, and Google, rather than Samsung, is the company delivering the fix in this case.

What Galaxy Owners Should Do Until the Fix Arrives

Google has not said which app or component the fix ships in, so the practical steps are limited to what drivers can check on their own:

  1. Install pending app updates on the phone so the Google fix is applied as soon as it reaches the device.
  2. Watch for disconnects or audio stuttering in Android Auto after updating to One UI 9, and report the behavior through the Android Auto Help page, where Google has already responded to submissions about the problem.
  3. Galaxy owners who have not installed One UI 9 yet and depend on Android Auto daily can wait for the Google fix to arrive before updating.

One UI 9 also brings expanded Quick Settings customization that lets users shrink and expand widgets, so postponing the update means waiting longer for those features.

The One UI 9 rollout is still in progress, and not all eligible Galaxy devices have received it. Google has not provided a timeline for when the Android Auto fix will reach every affected phone.
