Phantom Blade Zero Sells 4 Million Copies in 72 Hours, Peaking at 833,921 Concurrent Steam Players

Phantom Blade Zero has sold 4 million copies within 72 hours of going on sale, developer S-Game announced through the game’s official X account. The wuxia action game is available on Steam, PlayStation 5 and Tencent’s WeGame storefront, and its Steam player count peaked on Sunday at 833,921 concurrent players.

S-Game, the studio behind the game, shared the milestone only days after release as the title held first place in the Steam charts for gaming sales. “Thank you everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support!” S-Game wrote in the announcement post.

Phantom Blade Zero Tops Steam Charts at Launch

Phantom Blade Zero moved to the top of the Steam charts as soon as it launched, ahead of long-running titles such as PUBG and Dota 2. The game was also the best-selling title on Steam by revenue, finishing ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Aion 2 and Probably Stolen, a cyberpunk shopkeeper simulator.

The result tops recent Steam launches covered here, including Modern Warfare 4’s 227,434 player Steam peak, which Phantom Blade Zero has now passed by more than 600,000 concurrent players.

Demand was visible before release. Estimates published last week put Phantom Blade Zero above 1 million copies sold before launch across Steam, PS5 and WeGame. Nearly two thirds of those prelaunch sales came from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The launch still trails Black Myth: Wukong, which sold 10 million copies in its first three days. S-Game has not released a regional breakdown of the 4 million figure or split it by platform.

Phantom Blade Zero Cast and Availability

Roger Craig Smith, known for voicing Sonic the Hedgehog, Ezio Auditore and Chris Redfield, plays Soul, the lead character. Maggie Robertson, who played Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil 7, voices Mu Xiaokui. Donnie Yen served as a key creative consultant and plays Mó Yuan, Soul’s father, through full facial, voice and motion capture.

Players interested in the game have three storefronts to choose from:

• Steam on PC, where the game holds the top revenue spot
• PlayStation 5 through the PlayStation Store
• WeGame, Tencent’s PC storefront in China

Steam players can verify the concurrent player figures on the game’s Steam charts listing, which tracked the 833,921 peak on Sunday.

S-Game has not shared a sales target for Phantom Blade Zero beyond the 4 million milestone, and the game remains limited to Steam, PS5 and WeGame at launch.
