Asus Zenfone 2 launching in India on April 23
Asus has been teasing the imminent launch of the Zenfone 2 in India in the past couple of weeks. Today, the company has revealed that it will be bringing its flagship to our shores on April 23.
Asus has sent out invites for a launch event at New Delhi on April 23. The time frame is in line with earlier reports. The company has been bullish about the Zenfone 2, and is targeting tier-one flagships like Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, as well as the Apple iPhone 6. It has also taken digs at the flash sales employed by rival companies like Xiaomi, and OnePlus, and has revealed that the flagship will be easily available for buyers.
Asus had unveiled the Zenfone 2 at CES earlier this year. The flagship flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by a 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core 64-bit processor, and paired with 4GB of RAM.
The handset also features a 13-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery with fast charging capabilities, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, LTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop wrapped under the company’s Zen UI.Asus however isn’t making it easy for buyers as it has five variants of the Zenfone 2 on offer, ranging from $322 to as low as $160. The confusing bit is that all the models are called Zenfone 2, but have a string of alphanumerics that can somewhat make users understand what model they are buying. Asus has also confirmed that it will belaunching three variants of the flagship in India.
