Amazon India announced the impending launch on its Twitter page. In addition to revealing the price, the ecommerce site has also promised a bunch of launch day offers for buyers.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Galaxy J1 sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (800×480 pixels) display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM. Also included is 4GB internal storage that can be further expanded up to 64GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone also features a 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 1,850mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Galaxy J1 is yet another example of failings of Samsung in the Indian smartphone market. The smartphone will face tough competition from the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Huawei Honor Holly and the Lenovo A6000, which not only feature better specifications, but also have a smaller price tag.
