Earlier today, Uber updated its iOS and Android apps in India to give users the ability to send their status and SOS messages when required. Now it has also integrated its service with Google Maps, which will let users look for cabs.

As part of the integration, when users search for a destination on Google Maps, the Uber option will show up under the public transit pane. It will show estimated time to the destination, estimated pick up time, and even an estimated fare. When you click on the option, it will also take you directly to the Uber app to let you book a cab.

There is, however, a catch. The option shows up only if you have the Uber app installed on your phone. Secondly, as of now only UberX cab details are available, and not Uber Black or Uber Go.

The Google Maps-Uber feature comes to India eight months after it was launched in other countries. This integration is not surprising when you consider that Uber is a Google Ventures portfolio company.
