Railway Budget 2015: Passengers to soon receive train alerts via SMS
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is today presenting the Railway Budget 2015. Expansion and modernization of rail network, and passenger benefits are at the top agendas, and one of the first initiatives announced is SMS Alerts.

Prabhu today announced that the ministry will soon be initiating a SMS alert service. In essence, this will keep the passengers informed about the arrival and departures of their trains. This will go a long way in helping passengers keep a track of their trains, and be warned in advance if there is any delay.

He further announced an all-India 24×7 helpline number for railways. Soon ‘138’ will be functional and will attend to the problems of passengers.
