A 22-year-old man, who is being linked to the Lizard Squad hacking group was arrested by UK police. The Lizard Squad hacking group had claimed responsibility for the outage on Sony’s PSN and Xbox Live gaming services on the Christmas Eve, DailyDot reports. The man in question, however, was investigated for cyber-fraud offenses which took place between 2013 and August 2014. He was released on bail on Tuesday, according to a bail form published online.

“The arrest is in connection with an ongoing investigation into cyber-fraud offences which took place between 2013 and August 2014 during which victims reported funds being stolen from their PayPal accounts,” Thames Valley Police said in a statement on behalf of SEROCU.

According to Brian Kerbs, an independent security researcher, the man in question is Vinnie Omari. “Sources tell KrebsOnSecurity that Vinnie is one of many individuals associated with this sad little club who are being rounded up and questioned,” Krebs wrote in a blog post.

The police seized several of Omari’s gadgets and hard drives. “They took everything, Xbox One, phones, laptops, computer USBs, etc,” Omari told Daily Dot in an email. He further notes that no charges were pressed on him. He declined to comment on the attacks and frauds he was being investigated.

The Lizard Squad has been linked to several high-profile attacks in the past. Before the attacks on Christmas last week, the hacker group had also attacked gaming networks Activision and Blizzard. They have also threatened to bomb a Sony executive. The group recently also launched a DDoS attacks service wherein it provides attacking services for as low as $6.
