10 smartphones launched in India in January, 2015
The New Year has kicked off with a bang as far as smartphones are concerned. We’ve seen quite a few launches in January from the most affordable LTE smartphone (Lenovo A6000) and Samsung’s first-ever Tizen smartphone, to Xiaomi’s much-awaited Mi 4. Here’s a list of 10 smartphones that launched this month.Lenovo A6000
Priced at just Rs 6,999, the Lenovo A6000 is one of the most affordable 4G LTE phone in the market today. The A6000 comes with a 5-inch HD, and under the hood is a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM.
The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and a 2,300mAh battery. Connectivity options include LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and on the software front it runs on Android KitKat. The Lenovo A6000 is available on Flipkart via weekly flash sales.
Samsung Z1
Samsung finally launched its first Tizen-powered smartphone called the Z1. The smartphone is priced at Rs 5,700, and features a 4-inch (480×480 pixels) display, and is powered by a Spreadtrum dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz.
The smartphone also includes 768MB of RAM, 4GB internal storage, 3.15-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA front-camera.
Asus Zenfone 5 A501
The Zenfone 5 A501, is essentially a less powerful version of the original Zenfone 5. It is cheaper as well, priced at Rs 7,999. As for specifications, it boasts a 5-inch HD display, 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core processor along with a 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and a 2,500mAh battery. On the software front, it runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but is upgradable to 4.4 KitKat.
HTC Desire 526G+
The Desire 526G+ priced at Rs 10,400, and is powered by a octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with a 1GB of RAM. The smartphone also features a 4.7-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) display, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB/16GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot. On the software front, it runs on Android KitKat.
Micromax Canvas Hue
Micromax Canvas Hue is a mid-range Android smartphone priced at Rs 10,499. It features a 5-inch HD display, 8-megapixel primary camera, 2-megapixel secondary camera, and is powered by a MediaTek MT6582 processor clocked at 1.3GHz.
The smartphone also features 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and a 3,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi Mi 4
Xiaomi launched the much-awaited Mi 4 earlier this week, priced at Rs 19,999. The smartphone will go on sale next month on February 10. As for specifications, it is powered by a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM.
It also features a 13-megapixel primary camera, 8-megapixel secondary camera, a 5-inch full HD display, and 16GB internal storage. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android KitKat wrapped under MIUI 6.
HTC Desire 816G (octa-core variant)
HTC has re-launched the Desire 816G in India priced at Rs 19,990. The new Desire 816G differs from the original in terms of the octa-core processor underneath. It also has more internal memory (16GB) compared to the earlier variant.
Rest of the specifications remain the same, so you get a 5.5-inch HD display, 1GB of RAM, 13-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel secondary camera, and a 2,600mAh capacity.
Samsung Galaxy E7
Samsung launched a new series of smartphones in India earlier this month, with the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7. The latter is priced at Rs 23,342, and features a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 610 processor paired with 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone also features a 5.5-inch HD display, 16GB internal storage, expandable memory, 13-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel secondary camera, and a 2,950mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy A5
In addition to the Galaxy E series, Samsung also launched the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 in India. The latter features a Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, and a 5.5-inch full HD display.
Also included is 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel secondary camera, 16GB of internal storage, 2,600mAh battery and on the software front, it runs on Android KitKat.
BlackBerry Classic
BlackBerry went back to its roots with the Classic. The smartphone priced at Rs 31,990 comes with a QWERTY keypad as well as a trackpad. As for specifications, it has a 3.5-inch display, Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot.
Also included is an 8-megapixel primary camera, 2-megapixel secondary camera, 2,515mAh battery, and on the software front, it runs on BB OS 10.3.1, with support for apps from the Google Play Store as well as the Amazon app store.
