Jolla announced on its official social media pages that it is planning ‘something big’ with a clock counting down to November 19. The post does not give out further details but we expect a new smartphone to be unveiled, as the company has launched only one smartphone so far.

Jolla, a Finnish company founded by former Nokia employees, announced its one and only Jolla smartphone in November last year and was launched in India only in September this year priced at Rs 16,499 and exclusively available on Snapdeal.

This new announcement could be a new smartphone adding to its insignificant portfolio or even a tablet. It could also be a possible upgrade to its Sailfish OS, which hasn’t received any rave reviews yet.

Sailfish currently comes with several intuitive features. It supports gesture based controls for navigation, and customizable interface. Jolla handset is also well known for its multi-tasking abilities that allow it to run multiple apps side by side on a single screen. Sailfish operating system is based on Linux, and supports Android apps. While there is no Google Play Store, users can download Android apps via other third-party app stores including Yandex and Aptoide Store.

Specification wise, the Jolla smartphone features a 4.5-inch IPS qHD display, 1.4GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Also included are 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,100mAh battery. Connectivity options include LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.
