Apple took the wraps off its 27-inch Retina iMac tonight alongside the new iPads. The desktop computer’s price starts at Rs 179,900 in India, and will be available over the coming week.

One of the talking points of the new iMac is its display, which Apple claims is the “world’s highest resolution display.” In terms of pixels the new iMac gets a major bump, from the 2560×1440 pixels to 5120×2880 pixels. While the new display has 67 percent more pixels than a 4K display, Apple says it consumes nearly 30 percent less energy.

The iMac is powered by a 3.5GHz Intel Core i5 quad-core processor, paired with AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics card, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB Fusion drive. Buyers can further upgrade the iMac up to 4GHz Core-i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, a 3TB Fusion drive, or a 1TB SSD. On the software front, not surprisingly, the iMac runs on OS X Yosemite right out of the box.
