Samsung Galaxy S23 FE may launch after June this year

Samsung may be planning to launch a Fan Edition of the latest flagship Galaxy S23 later this year. Dubbed Galaxy S23 FE, the rumoured phone will be the third Fan Edition phone after the Galaxy S21 FE, which was launched in January last year, and Galaxy S20 FE, which arrived in 2020. Samsung never launched the Galaxy S22 FE, likely because of chip shortage and good response to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, so the Galaxy S23 FE will be a direct successor to the Galaxy S21 FE.

Korean publication Daily Hankooki has reported that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE may arrive sometime in August or September this year, but an exact timeline is not clear. In any case, the report highlights that the launch of the Galaxy S23 FE would take place in the second half of 2023, meaning after June. Samsung usually launches its foldable phones in the second half, so it is possible that the S23 FE arrives at the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

The report further added that Samsung would not release the Galaxy A74 and instead focus on the launch and sale of the Galaxy S23 FE. Since the Fan Edition phones are mostly mid-rangers, it would not make sense for a high-end A-series phone to exist parallel. The Galaxy S FE series comes with the same design as the high-end Galaxy S series of the same generation but features toned-down specifications and, thus, costs comparatively lower.

For what it is worth, the Galaxy S23 FE would come with the same three cutouts on the back for the cameras but without any island to make them look different from the rest of the rear panel design. The display would have a punch-hole in the centre, carrying the selfie camera, and possibly a metal trim. The specifications are unclear at the moment, but you can expect it to come with some standard internals such as a high refresh-rate AMOLED display, a 5G processor, and a fast-charging battery.
