Tech giant Apple will reportedly launch a foldable iPad with a “carbon fibre kickstand” next year. The information was shared by famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on the micro-blogging platform Twitter on Monday. He said that one of the future iPad models will have a foldable display and will be equipped with a carbon fibre kickstand for additional durability.

Kuo tweeted: “I’m positive about the foldable iPad in 2024 and expect this new model will boost shipments and improve the product mix.” “My latest survey indicates that the foldable iPad will feature a carbon fibre kickstand. Carbon fibre material will make the kickstand lighter and more durable.”

According to Kuo, the Jiangsu, China-based Anjie Technology, which supplies internal and external functional components for consumer electronics companies, will be the biggest beneficiary of the growing trend of foldable devices that will come with kickstands.

He also predicted that iPad shipments will have a year-on-year (YoY) decline of 10-15 percent in 2023. Moreover, Kuo said that the iPhone maker might not release any new iPad in the next 9-12 months because “the iPad mini refresh is more likely to begin mass production” in the first quarter of next year. The existing iPad mini was launched in 2021 with an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina Display and the A15 Bionic processor. The next iPad mini’s specifications are unclear at the moment.

Meanwhile, in October last year, it was reported that the tech giant might launch its first foldable iPad rather than iPhone in 2024. A prediction from the market research and advisory firm CCS Insight said this iPad model with a foldable display would come bearing a “super-premium” price tag. The foldable iPad could be a precursor to Apple’s foldable iPhone, which has been in the rumour mill for a long time.

In other news, Apple is also said to be working on more smart home devices, including a toned-down iPad that will be used for controlling HomeKit devices. According to Bloomberg, Apple may be working on devices with screens to let users control smart home devices connected to the HomeKit account.
