Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge goes on sale in India today, prices start from Rs 49,900
Edge in India towards the end of last month. Today, both the flagships are going on sale in India, with prices starting from Rs 49,900.
The two smartphones were up for pre-orders on e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Amazon India, Infibeam and Snapdeal. The e-commerce sites had offers including exchange schemes, screen-replacement offer, Payback points, and cash back offers among others. Currently, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are listed on Flipkart as Coming Soon, but they are already on sale Amazon India and Snapdeal.
The phones are available in three variants – 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. The Galaxy S6 prices start from Rs 49,900 for 32GB, Rs 55,900 for 64GB and Rs 61,900 for 128GB. The Galaxy S6 Edge prices, on the other hand, start from Rs 58,900 for 32GB, Rs 64,900 for 64GB and Rs 70,900 for 128GB variants.
To recap, the Galaxy S6 flaunts a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED QHD (2560×1440 pixels) display with a pixel density of 577ppi, and is powered by an Exynos 7420 octa-core (2.1GHz quad-core+1.5GHz quad-core) chipset paired with 3GB of RAM.
It also features a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, 5-megapixel camera up front, 2,550mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving Mode and wireless charging capabilities. Connectivity options include LTE support, NFC, IR Blaster, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and on the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box, wrapped under an overhauled TouchWiz UI.
The Galaxy S6 Edge’s USP is its dual-curved display. As for specifications, they are nearly identical to the Galaxy S6, albeit with small changes. While the size and resolution of the display remain the same, there the display curves on both sides. The only other difference is a minutely bigger battery at 2,600mAh.
