LG G4 launched featuring 16-megapixel OIS camera: Specifications, features
As expected, LG today took the wraps off its latest flagship, the LG G4. The smartphone is in line with the teasers and leaks that we came across in the run up to today’s event.
On the design front, the LG G4 boasts a slightly curved body that the company claims not only improves grip, but also makes it 20 percent more durable than a flat smartphone. As we have seen in the leaks, the LG G4 comes with a polycarbonate body, and a distinctive leather back panel. The polycarbonate body helps in keeping the smartphone light on weight, and as for dimensions, the smartphone measures 149.1×75.3×8.9mm. As we seen on previous LG models, the LG G4 too comes with back-mounted navigation buttons
As far as specifications are concerned, the LG G4 flaunts a 5.5-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) IPS ‘Quantum’ display with a pixel density of 534ppi. The screen is not only protected by Gorilla Glass 4, but as per the company is also 25 percent brighter, and offers 50 percent higher contrast than its predecessor.
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz and paired with Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB of RAM. On the storage front, there is 32GB on board memory, which can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card. Additionally, buyers will also get 100GB free storage on Google Drive for a period of two years.
In the photography department, the flagship features a 16-megapixel rear sensor with laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, f /1.8 aperture and dual-tone dual LED flash. The camera is capable of recording 4K videos, and short panoramas up to 104-megapixels. For selfie lovers, there is an 8-megapxiel front-facing camera.
The smartphone also features a 3,000mAh removable battery with fast charging and wireless charging capabilities. The company claims the battery is good enough to last more than a day on a single charge, and users will be able to charge up to 60 percent in just about 30 minutes.
On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop wrapped under LG UX 4.0. As LG revealed earlier this month, the new UI comes with proprietary features like KnockCode, and Knock On, as well as features like Smart Alert, Smart Board, and camera-centric apps like Quick Shot and Expert Camera mode among others. Connectivity options include LTE Cat 6 support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, NFC, and IR blaster.
