Delhi elections 2015 results: Twitter doles out over a lakh tweets about AAP’s victory today
Earlier today, the Delhi Elections results were declared, with Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP claiming a resounding victory. As we reported earlier today, Twitter was buzzing throughout the voting over the weekend, and the counting today.
Twitter has now broken down the numbers, claiming that the hashtags like #DelhiDecides and #AapSweeps were trending throughout the day. Nearly 81,000 tweets carried the former hashtag, while 61,000 tweets carried the other hashtag. The number of tweets peaked around 1:30PM, when AAP’s victory was declared with 160 tweets per minute.
Twitter has also released an interactive Trendsmap that shows the hashtags and Twitter handles active throughout the day. As far as hashtags are concerned, #Delhidecides, #Aapkidilli, #Aapsweep, #AAPKidilli, #kiskidilli, and #aap were trending for most part of the day. The most number of tweets with these hashtags were from Delhi and Mumbai, and they peaked around 10:00AM in the morning.
As for Twitter handles, most of the tweets today mentioned @arvindkejriwal, @aamaadmiparty, @thekiranbedi, and @narendramodi. The number of tweets mentioning @arvindkejriwal started peaking around 8:15AM when the counting of votes began. Tweets mentioning @narendramodi peaked all over the country around 10:00AM, when the PM posted a tweet congratulating Kejriwal on his victory. Modi’s tweet follows.

Along with Modi, many other politicians including Kiran Bedi, Omar Abdullah, Ajay Maken too congratulated Kejriwal on his victory. The Twitterati too wholeheartedly supported the AAP party, as well as Arvind Kejriwal.
