OnePlus One launched in India for Rs 21,999 exclusively on Amazon India
As expected, at an event in New Delhi today OnePlus revealed the price of the flagship One. The smartphone is priced at Rs 21,999 for the 64GB variant, and 20,000 units will be available in the first batch on Amazon India for select users who had applied for an invite.
As mentioned above, getting your hands on the OnePlus One is not as straight forward as going to Amazon India and hitting the Buy button. The smartphone is being sold via a special invite system, which went live last week. Here’s a guide on how the invite system works and how you can get your hands on an invite.
The company today also announced that it had tied up with HCL to offer after-sales service support, and India is also the only market outside their headquarters to have a local office and team. Furthermore, those who have bought phones from the global OnePlus site, will get local warranty and support in India.
To recap on OnePlus One’s specifications, it flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and is powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Also included is 64GB internal storage.
Additionally, it also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,100mAh battery. On the software front, the smartphone runs on the CyanogenMod ROM CM11s with several customized features.
The company’s debut in India has been anything but smooth till now. As mentioned above, the flagship device runs on Cyanogen’s OS, but the company recently inked a deal with Micromax to exclusively license its software to the forthcoming YU series of smartphones. In other words, the move essentially takes the rights from OnePlus to sell CyanogenMod-powered handsets in India. The company has however assured buyers of its commitment and also revealed plans to release its own customized Android build in February next year.
