Due to a ‘computer glitch’, a 22-year-old student in London mistakenly received 51 items from Amazon. Surprisingly, the e-commerce giant, as a goodwill gesture, told him that he can keep all of them. Daily Mail reports that the gift items include a 55-inch Samsung TV worth £889 (Rs 85,600 approximately) and a Galaxy tablet worth £338 (Rs 32,500 approximately) among other things.

Robert Quinn, a Bromley student from South London, was in for a massive surprise last week when Amazon delivered nothing short of 51 gifts at his doorstep, at different times. Amazon confirmed the glitch and a spokesperson told Daily Mail, “This matter has now been resolved and I can confirm that on this occasion the customer has been informed that he can keep the items that were delivered.” The nature of the glitch is not known.

An elated Quinn is planning to give some of his gifts to his family, while most of it he will sell it back on Amazon and give some to charity. The profit he will earn will fund a trip to Bruges with his girlfriend and a cannabis grinder he is designing.

Among the gifts was a single bed, a bookcase, a chest of drawers, a Lego fire truck, a baby buggy, a Sony PSP console, a £90 Waterman pen, a £170 electric wine cooler, a Lotus car user manual, CDs, DVDs and books.

He said, “At first I phoned up Amazon and they said that people must be “gifting” them to me, but there’s no way that’s happening because I don’t know any of these people.” But Amazon after realizing the glitch told him, “It’s on us.”
