Black Eyed Peas lead and tech entrepreneur will.i.am announced his new company i.am+ and a wearable at Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference earlier today. The device is called Puls, and it packs several enticing features such as GPS, a music player, fitness tracker, and social networking apps on it, reports Wall Street Journal.

The two-inch wide touch-enabled smartwatch also lets users make and receive phone calls without the need to take out the phone out of your pocket. You can check your Facebook and Twitter, send people text messages, find location on a map, and play music on it. It comes with its own voice-activated digital assistant named Aneeda.

The company hasn’t revealed the kind of hardware it has used inside the watch, except that it runs on Snapdragon processor, and can last for 5 hours on continuous usage. The watch will be available through AT&T in the U.S. and O2 in the U.K., and begin shipping this holiday season. The pricing of Puls hasn’t been announced yet.

What’s the real motive behind the Puls? Helping the lead rapper gain credibility in the tech field, so that he can inspire kids to become the next Bill Gates. “This is the beginning for me and more importantly there’s purpose behind it,” he said, adding that he’ll be able to tell kids that “this venture is proof that you too—we come from the same place—you just have to have vision and surround yourself with amazing skilled people to be able to do this type of work.”

Will.i.am had also founded a startup called i.am.plus, best known for its $300 iPhone cases. The iconic rapper has also previously encouraged kids to learn coding.
