Apple iPhone 6 pre-orders begin in India ahead of anticipated October 17 launch
We still might not have an official acknowledgement of the official iPhone 6 launch date for India, but it looks like some Apple Premium Resellers (APRs) have started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. At least one APR in Bangalore, is taking pre-orders for Rs 10,000 and the remaining balance once the launch happens.
In all likelihood, the pre-orders taken by Imagine Store in Bangalore is unofficial as even the store is not sure about the launch date. BGR India has received one invoice showing the store has accepted Rs 10,000 as pre-order money for a iPhone 6 16GB. The store representatives aren’t sure about the launch date either, but are expecting it to happen on October 17. They are also anticipating the iPhone 6 to start below Rs 55,000, but we wouldn’t read too much into it.
On the day the iPhone 6 was unveiled, Apple had put up September 26 as the date when it would be available in the country on its India site. The next day the date was moved to October 17 but eventually even reference to that was removed. While we anticipate Apple will launch the new iPhones in India on October 17, which is the Friday before Diwali, there is no official word on the exact launch date.
