Government withdraws Data Protection Bill in favour of new bill
The Indian government on Wednesday announced the withdrawal of the Personal Data Protection Bill from the Parliament. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Twitter that a new bill will soon replace it. According to a report, the joint parliamentary committee suggested 81 changes to the Data Protection Bill, only to eventually withdraw it.
