New Yamaha EC-06 Electric Scooter Revealed; Gets 4 kWh Battery, 160 km Range
Yamaha unveiled two production-ready electric scooters in India at its recently held event in the form of the Aerox 155-based Aerox e and the EC-06. Spied testing on Indian roads earlier in the year, the new EC-06 is the much-anticipated Yamaha derivative of the Indie electric scooter from EV start-up River, with which Yamaha entered a partnership in 2024.

While based on the Indie, Yamaha has heavily reworked the design, though some design elements, such as the protruding headlamp, remain. The EC-06 gets a more angular and sportier look with its triangular side panels and sculpted front apron. The upper apron is finished in black and houses a large stacked headlamp with the turn signals positioned just below the handlebars. A coloured LCD display sits atop the handlebars with an in-built telematics unit with a SIM card. The scooter also features three ride modes and a reverse mode.
On the practicality front, the EC-06 offers 24.5 litres of under-seat storage.

Moving to the powertrain, the EC-06 gets a 4 kWh battery paired with an electric motor developing a peak 6.7 kW and 4.5 kW of continuous power. Certified range stands at 160 km. As for charging, Yamaha says that a full charge cycle takes about 9 hours via the on-board charger.
As for a launch, expect prices for the new EC-06 to be announced sometime in the first quarter of 2026.
