Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 patch fixes broken PS4 Trophies and other ‘minor issues’
A new patch for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 has arrived, bringing fixes to broken PS4 Trophies. However, it looks as though some minor bugs still persist.
Released on November 27, the update fixes issues with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake where Trophies in the PS4 version of the game wouldn’t unlock properly. Unfortunately, it looks as though the fix isn’t retroactive, with the patch notes making it clear that “the requirements for these trophies must be met again in order for them to be unlocked.”
What’s more, the update “fixed some minor issues and made additional adjustments,” though the patch notes don’t specify exactly what these are.
However, it also looks like several bugs across the anthology have yet to be squashed. In its ‘Issues Under Investigation’ section, the patch notes identify a handful of glitches that remain outstanding. This includes a problem that “sometimes causes certain cutscenes to stop playing” in Metal Gear Solid, as well as an issue in Metal Gear Solid 3 “where some face paints are displayed in a lower resolution.”
Despite these ongoing issues, Konami pledged that “we will continue to provide regular updates on future improvements and fixes as further details are finalized.” This means that we’ll likely see further fixes in the future.
Here at TRG, we very much enjoyed the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. Our editor in chief Jake Tucker made it clear: “There’s no denying every game in this collection still has the magic.”
That said, it’s not a recommendation we can make unreservedly. Though the anthology still has a lot to offer, we were disappointed by more than a few “awkward” moments that have aged badly. However, if you’re looking for a way to experience some of the most influential stealth games of all time, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is definitely the way to do it.
