HTC has been rumored to be working on a smartphone called the Eye, which is being billed as the ‘ultimate selfie phone’. According to Android developer @LlabTooFeR, the smartphone will be called the M8 Eye, and will be a revamped version of the One (M8).
HTC is said to be replacing the 4-Ultrapixel camera on the flagship device with a 13-megapixel camera. It will however continue to have a Duo Camera setup. On the front, HTC will persist with the 5-megapixel selfie camera. This camera combination is similar to what HTC is offering on the Butterfly 2, it recently launched in Japan.
From what we heard so far, the M8 Eye is likely to feature a 5.2-inch 1080p display with a pixel density of 423ppi and will be powered by a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor paired with Adreno 330 GPU. The smartphone is likely to be launched at HTC’s event on October 8.
In addition to smartphone, HTC is also expected to unveil the ReCamera, which is essentially a GoPro rival. The tube-shaped 16-megapixel camera is said to have a wide-angle lens, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to establish direct connection with your Android and iOS devices.
