Cheap iPad? Sign me up

You can get the 64GB version of the 2021 iPad 10.2-inch for $249 right now at Walmart – that’s a solid saving of $80 and a return to the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this iPad.

The slight wrinkle here is that it’s an iPad from 2021, just before Apple refreshed the design of its cheapest tablets with the latest and larger 10.9 model. But don’t let that put you off, as the standard iPad is still a great entry-level tablet for all your everyday use – be that browsing, streaming or a bit of light gaming – thanks to the rich and well-supported iPadOS ecosystem.

A first-ever discount on the new Fire TV Stick 4K

There’s definitely no need to wait around if you plan to pick up one of Amazon’s popular streaming devices this Black Friday as the all-new Fire TV Stick 4K has been given its first-ever discount that slashes it to its cheapest price.

I recommend this as a simple and affordable way to stream video from all the major streaming apps in ultra-high definition on any 4K TV with an HDMI port. The accessibility features are handy, too, including voice controls to make navigation easier and connect with other smart home devices.

We haven’t tested this new version yet, but our original Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K review already awarded it an impressive 4.5 stars out of five. So, this improved version with WiFi 6 support for more reliable streaming and upgraded performance can surely only improve on what is already one of the best streaming sticks you can buy.

Carpets so clean your friends will be green with envy

This recommendation comes from fellow deals editor Mackenzie Frazier, who says that the Bissell Little Green carpet cleaner is hands down her favorite appliance.

As an owner of a dog and a white couch, she finds it works like magic on any stain, and it’s a fraction of the cost of professionally cleaning your carpets or upholstery. Walmart has the portable carpet cleaner down to $89 (was $123.34) – that’s the same offer we saw during the October Prime Day and the lowest price we’ve ever seen.

Don’t buy the iPhone 14 this Black Friday

Our Senior Staff Writer, Axel Metz, is stepping in with why you shouldn’t buy an iPhone 14 this Black Friday:

If you’re considering buying a new iPhone this Black Friday, you’ve no doubt read up on the differences between the iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 already, but since we’re likely to see the iPhone 14 discounted heavily in the coming weeks, it’s worth us reiterating those distinctions here.

The bottom line is this: don’t buy the iPhone 14 this Black Friday. Apple’s latest standard model, the iPhone 15, represents the biggest generational upgrade in years, offering so much more phone for its $799 / £849 / AU$1,339 starting price than the iPhone 14 ever did (you’ll find a full breakdown of the key differences in our iPhone 15 vs iPhone 14 comparison). If you can afford to stretch to that sort of money, go for the iPhone 15, even if it isn’t discounted for Black Friday.

Similarly, if you’re simply looking for a capable iPhone at a cut price, Apple’s standard iPhone 13 is pretty much the same phone as the iPhone 14, but cheaper. Their designs are identical, their cameras are (almost) identical and their chipsets are separated by just one generation – which, in Apple terms, means next to nothing.

Note, however, that we’re only talking about the standard models here. If you can find an iPhone 14 Pro at a discounted price this Black Friday, that phone is definitely worth considering against the newer iPhone 15 Pro, whose upgrades are limited to a slightly better chipset, titanium sides, the Action button and USB-C connectivity. If you just want a super-fast iPhone with the Dynamic Island and 120Hz scrolling, then the (inevitably cheaper) iPhone 14 Pro remains an excellent choice.

A Black Friday classic for the gamers

Deals on the Nintendo Switch are always one of the most sought-after during the Black Friday sales as I’m sure many of you are on the hunt for a bargain on the iconic games console. But Nintendo has taken the stress out of it over the last few years as it’s consistently launched the same excellent value bundle. And, would you look at that, it’s back again in 2023.

The bundle features a Nintendo Switch console, a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a three-month Switch Online membership all for $299. This represents a saving of around $70 compared to buying all three separately so it’s excellent value for money if you are looking to buy the popular Nintendo console for the holidays.
