WhatsApp’s new feature will let you share high-quality images with ease
WhatsApp, over the years, has made it easy for users to share images in bulk on its platform. What was once upon a time limited to just sharing 10 images at a time has now been increased to 30 images. However, one issue that has remained consistent is that of image quality. As of now, the Meta-owned messaging app compresses images before sharing it on the platform. One way around that WhatsApp users have found in a bid to retain the image quality is by sending images in a PDF format. Now, a new report says that the company is working on a functionality that will enable WhatsApp users to share high-quality images with their friends and family.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature in development will soon make it possible to send photos in their original quality. A screenshot of the feature shared by the blog post shows that WhatsApp will soon introduce a button in its image-editor tool that will enable users to pick between Standard Quality images and HD Quality images, giving users more flexibility in terms of sharing images.
“This is a great improvement compared to the current image compression that occurs when sending images. People will no longer have to worry about their images losing quality or resolution when sending them,” the blog site wrote in a post.
Furthermore, the blog site says that even as WhatsApp introduces the functionality to share high-quality images, users will still have the option of sending photos using the standard compression method, ‘which can be useful for those who wish to conserve storage space, and it is always the default option.’
WhatsApp is developing this feature for its WhatsApp beta for Android and Desktop beta apps. There is no word on when this feature will be available in the main app.
What else?
WhatsApp, as per another report by the blog site is also working on a functionality that would extend its image sharing capabilities. As of now, WhatsApp users can share up to 30 images at a time. Now, the company is working on a feature that would extend this limit to 100 images at a time. This feature is also in development and there is no word on when it will be available to the users.
