Netflix: How to remove someone from using your account

Netflix has begun its crackdown on password sharing. Subscribers will now be charged an extra fee for sharing their passwords outside a household. This paid sharing feature is now live in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain.

According to Netflix, if you want to share your accounts with people (up to 2 people) outside your household, you will need to subscribe to either the Standard tier or Premium tier and pay the extra fee.

If you also have a few freeloaders using your account and want to kick them off of your profile, here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can do that now.

How to remove someone from using your Netflix account

Netflix users can change their account password to remove someone from using their account without permission.

Change your password

Log into your Netflix account and open ‘Account’ from Settings
Now go to the Membership and Billing section and select the “Change password” option
Enter your current password and new password
Once done, click on the “Save” option

For the unversed, Netflix advises that the password needs to be at least 8 characters long and should include a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols using both upper and lower-case letters.

Users can even log out of the unrecognized devices with the new “Manage Access & Devices page”. This will show you all the details of the devices your account is being used on. These details will include name of the profile being used, IP address, last watched and location.

You can simply tap on the “sign out” option infront of the name of the device to stop someone from using your account.

For the unversed, Netflix is facing backlash from users due to the paid password-sharing feature. This feature will affect users who are living away from their families, as they will not have the same “primary location” or users who travel between homes.
