HMD Global teases launch of Nokia X30 in India, but how is PM Modi involved?
The Nokia X30 is coming to India soon. HMD Global’s vice president for India and MENA, Sanmeet Kochhar, made the announcement without revealing a launch date on Twitter. However, his tweet quoted a tweet from ANI that highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s jacket that he wore while appearing in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. PM Modi’s jacket is said to have been made from recycled plastic bottles — something that Kochhar said resonates with the Nokia X30 5G.
According to the HMD Global executive, the Nokia X30 5G is “made with 100 percent recycled aluminium and 65 percent recycled plastic.” Kochhar, in his tweet, thanked the Prime Minister for “leading the way.”
Thank you for leading the way.
Our Nokia X30 5G is made with 100 recycled aluminium & 65% recycled plastic and we are here together to make a better tomorrow.

Smartphone companies have increasingly adopted recycled materials in smartphones. Not just HMD Global, but companies like Apple, Samsung, and Google use recycled materials in their flagship phones in an attempt to contribute to the environment by reducing their carbon footprint. PM Modi’s jacket seemed like a good opportunity to make people aware of the Nokia X30 and how it is more of an environment-friendly phone.
The Nokia X30 5G was launched in September last year during the IFA 2022 in Berlin. At the launch, HMD Global touted that not only the Nokia X30 5G is made out of 100 percent recycled aluminium, but its retail box is also made up of 94 percent recycled paper with a certification from the Forest Stewardship Council. To promote longevity, HMD says the Nokia X30 5G will support three years of OS upgrades and monthly security updates, while the warranty will be valid for as long as three years.
Nokia X30 5G specifications
The specifications of the Nokia X30 5G include a 6.43-inch FullHD OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. On the back of the phone, there is a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera. On the front, there is a 16-megapixel camera. It will be available for a starting price of £399 in the UK and €529 in Germany. But with the Circular subscription, it will cost £25 a month in the UK with a startup fee of £30. HMD Global may launch the Circular subscription in India, but nothing is clear at the moment.
