Apple’s second-gen HomePod goes on sale in India today: Check price, specs, features
Apple introduced the second generation HomePod last month. Now, roughly two weeks after its launch, the iPhone-maker’s next-gen smart speaker went on sale in the country. The second-gen HomePod costs Rs 32,900 in India and it is available for purchase in the country via Apple’s online shop in Midnight and White colour variants.
Interested buyers can also purchase the second-gen HomePod by paying a monthly EMI of Rs 5,742. Furthermore, the company is offering six-months of Apple Music subscription to all buyers on the purchase of the new HomePod.
Apple second-gen HomePod features and specifications
As far as the features are concerned, the second-gen Apple HomePod comes with the same transparent mesh fabric design, which was available in the original HomePod that was introduced back in 2017, and the HomePod Mini that was introduced in November 2020. It also has a backlit touch surface that illuminates from edge to edge.
As far as the acoustics are concerned, the second-generation Apple HomePod is powered by its S7 chip and it comes with a 4-inch high-excursion woofer, a powerful motor that drives a 20mm diaphragm and an array of five horn-loaded tweeters, wherein each tweeter has its own neodymium magnet. In addition to this, the newly launched HomePod comes with advanced computational audio with system sensing for real-time tuning technology, room sensing technology, spatial audio with Dolby Atmos support, four far-field microphone design, multi-room audio with AirPlay support and stereo pairing capability.
It comes with a built-in bass-EQ mic and it has a sound recognition system, temperature and humidity sensors and an accelerometer. For connectivity it has 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and ultra -wideband chip for device proximity.
As far as features are concerned, Apple says that users can use two or more HomePod or HomePod mini speakers to play the same song on multiple HomePod speakers, play different songs on different HomePod speakers, or even use them as an intercom to broadcast messages to other rooms. Users can also create a stereo pair with two HomePod speakers in the same space.
Additionally, the company says that the HomePod can recognise up to six voices, so each member in a home can hear their personal playlists, ask for reminders, and set calendar events.
