Jio introduces True 5G network in 34 Indian cities, says service is available in 225 cities across India

Jio today announced that it is bringing its True 5G network to 34 more cities across the country. With today’s launch, Jio’s True 5G network is available in 225 cities in India.

“We are really excited to launch Jio True 5G services in 34 additional cities, taking the total count to 225 cities. Jio has achieved this milestone in just under 120 days since the Beta Trial launch and is well on its way to connect the entire nation with the transformational Jio True 5G services by December 2023,” a Jio spokesperson said in a statement on the occasion.

As far as availability is concerned, here is a list of cities where Jio has rolled out its True 5G network:

— Ananthapuramu, Bhimavaram, Chirala, Guntakal, Nandyal and Tenali in Andhra Pradesh
— Dibrugarh, Jorhat and Tezpur in Assam
— Gaya in Bihar
— Ambikapur and Dhamtari in Chhattisgarh
— Thanesar and Yamunanagar in Haryana
— Chitradurga in Karnataka
— Jalgaon and Latur in Maharashtra
— Balangir and Nalco in Odisha
— Jalandhar and Phagwara in Punjab
— Ajmer in Rajasthan
— Cuddalore, Dindigul, Kancheepuram, Karur, Kumbakonam, Nagercoil, Thanjavur, and Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu
— Adilabad, Mahabubnagar and Ramagundam in Telangana
— Mathura in Uttar Pradesh

It is worth noting that the announcement comes shortly after the company introduced its 5G network in seven cities in north-east parts of the country. The list includes Arunachal Pradesh’s capital — Itanagar, Meghalaya’s capital city — Shillong, Mizoram’s state capital — Aizawl, Nagaland’s capital — Kohima, Manipur’s capital city — Imphal, and Tripura’s capital — Agartala. In addition to this the company has also rolled out its True 5G network in Dimapur.

How to subscribe to Jio’s True 5G network

Jio said that its 4G subscribers can upgrade to the company’s True 5G network by clicking on the Jio Welcome Offer banner in the company’s MyJio app. On doing so, Jio’s app will scan if the service is available in the city where the user is and if their phone supports standalone 5G network. If it does, it will upgrade the network from 4G to 5G. It is worth noting that users need to recharge their phone numbers with a minimum recharge value of Rs 239 in order to be able to use the service.
