This is the most versatile device Asus has ever created: The Zenbook 17 Fold
Asus has today revealed what it’s calling the most versatile device it has ever created. The Asus Zenbook 17 Fold is a flexible, foldable laptop that’s designed to be used in all manner of formats.
As you might have gathered from the name, the Asus Zenbook 17 Fold (UX9702) is a large foldable laptop with an impressive screen.
Best laptop: Top budget and premium notebooks for professionals, students and casual users
Unfolding this laptop you’ll be greeted by a 17.3-inch display with a 2560×1920 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. But you can also fold it into a more traditional format and switch the display to a 12.5-inch 3:2 1080p option.
It comes with a full-size, detachable Bluetooth keyboard that allows you to use it as a traditional laptop, but if you want more screens you can pop that off and switch to a smaller on-screen keyboard instead. Fully unfolded it can be used in PC mode where you essentially have a large screen you can work on while using an external keyboard and mouse.
Naturally, the Zenbook 17 Fold also folds out into a tablet mode where you can make the most of the large screen and browse the web, watch videos or collaborate with colleagues.
Asus is keen to highlight the convenience of this device. With design highlights that result in a more intuitive user experience. The included keyboard, for example, is designed with the same spacing for the keys as a traditional desktop keyboard. So you’ll get a natural feel when typing. It can also be paired with multiple devices and has function layer keys like audio keys, brightness and more for easy use.
Inside the Zenbook 17 Fold boats Intel Core i7 12th gen processor options, Intel Iris Xe graphics and more. It supports Wi-Fi 6E and has a Wi-Fi stabiliser to ensure a solid connection.
This laptop has dual cameras with colour sensors and two webcams to automatically adjust the brightness and colour temp of the screen according to your surrounding environment. It also uses an adaptive lock with an IR sensor which will lock it when you wander away or dim the screen when you’re not looking at it.
As you might expect, Asus has worked hard to create something that’s useful but also durable. Testing has apparently shown the hinge on the Zenbook 17 Fold is capable of folding and unfolding 30,000 times, which equates to around eight years of use.
A 75Wh battery, Harmon Kardon speakers with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and a 1.6KG frame round off the package. Find out more about it here.
