Asus has created a glorious space-themed Zenbook 14X
As a homage to the laptop that served usefully aboard the MIR space station, Asus has crafted a wonderful looking Zenbook with some serious specs.
The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition boasts an eye-catching design that includes a 3.5-inch external monochrome display on the lid and a “Zero G Titanium” finish.
As you might expect, this space edition has fancier specs than your average Zenbook. With internals pitched to help you blast off into space.
Best laptop: Top budget and premium notebooks for professionals, students and casual users
Those specs include Intel’s 12th generation Core i9-12900H processor along with integrated Intel Iris graphics. It also rocks an OLED screen with 2880 x 1800 resolution, 16:10 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate and HDR too. The additional small 3.5-inch screen on the lid can be used to display all sorts from custom messages to business cards and everything in between.
Otherwise, this Zenbook also has Dolby Atmos and Harmon Kardon certified sound system. It’s Wi-Fi 6 E capable with Thunderbolt 4 with Type-C charging and dual external monitor support.
Asus says the Space Edition is built to withstand the rigours of space travel. It’s been put through the ultra-demanding US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-016A testing protocols so it can stand up to use and abuse. That includes extreme vibrations up to four times more than the military-grade durability tests, Asus laptops are usually put through.
It can also withstand temps from -24°C right up to up to 61°C. So should be able to stand up to whatever you can throw at it. Including space travel, if you’re so lucky.
For user convenience, there’s also Windows Hello support with a fingerprint sensor built into the power button.
This special edition Zenbook is part of a series that includes the Zenbook 14 OLED, Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED and Zenbook 14X OLED.
