BBC Studios and Slate have today rolled out new Apple Podcasts Subscriptions for listeners on all of Apple’s best iPhones and beyond.

As reported by The Verge:

As of today, Apple has another big partner for its paid podcast channels: BBC Studios. And unlike other subscription products, which mostly offer perks like ad-free listening for existing audiences, this channel will give US and Canadian listeners access to shows that were previously only playable in the UK.

BBC Studios’ new service means content previously only available in the UK can now be played across the pond labeled as exclusives. There are more on the way but listed starters include 5 Minutes On and Nuremberg: The Trial of the Nazi War Criminals, as well as ad-free versions of several other shows.

On Slate the report notes:

You could already pay for things like ad-free listening and bonus content through Slate Plus, which was hosted directly on the publication’s site, and which also bundled in features that were relevant to its written content, like unlimited access to articles. Now, consumers have the option to pay solely for Slate’s audio, which notably includes the popular podcast Slow Burn.

Apple rolled out Podcasts Subscriptions in June, giving listeners the chance to pay extra for exclusive content from podcast producers, the feature is available in over 170 countries.
