Microsoft detailed several features of Windows 10 at its September 30 event, now it wants to discuss “the next chapter” of its forthcoming operating system. The company has announced that it will be hosting an event at its corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington on January 21. While it hasn’t detailed what features it will be discussing at the event, it is likely to demonstrate Cortana on desktop platform and Continuum, as well as demonstrate Windows 10 mobile SKU. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will be at the event, which suggests that the company has big announcements saved for that day. Windows chief Terry Myerson and Joe Belfiore, and Xbox head Phil Spencer too will also be speaking at the event. At the event, Microsoft could, for the first time, demonstrate the Windows Phone-Windows RT Windows 10 mobile SKU. The company may also release developer preview version of Windows 10 for mobile handsets, according to an earlier report.

Microsoft is also expected to showcase Continuum, a feature which allows users with two-in-one devices to quickly transition modes as they connect and disconnect keyboards. Recently Cortana, the digital voice assistant which is exclusively available on Windows Phone 8.1 was spotted in a build of Windows 10. Microsoft may also want to discuss this feature. Unveiled on September 30, Windows 10 is the next operating system for desktop and mobile platforms as well as, gaming platform Xbox, and IoTs. According to company’s COO Kevin Turner, Windows 10 would launch in early fall 2015.
