The exteriors of the hatchback gets longer hood, new grille which is complemented by new headlamps, new bumpers and newly formulated tail lamps. Inside the cabin, the new Alto K10 gets a restyled dashboard that looks simple yet functional. Moreover, the vehicle gets driver side airbag mounted inside the new steering wheel.
Under the bonnet is the same 1.0-litre 3-cylinder K-Series petrol unit that also powers the Wagon R, Celerio and the outgoing Alto K10. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 67bhp and peak torque of 90Nm. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. The major mechanical upgrade is the addition of the new 5-speed automated manual transmission. There will be a petrol-CNG dual fuel option for buyers as well.
The AMT equipped Alto K10 is claimed to return an excellent ARAI rated fuel economy of 24.02kmpl, which makes it the country’s most fuel efficient automatic car. The new Alto K10 is expected to be priced more than the current model owing to the new automated manual transmission and new features like airbags. The vehicle would rival against the likes of Datsun Go and Hyundai Eon 1.0.
