Xiaomi is looking at selling 100,000 smartphones a week in India during Diwali: Reuters
Earlier today, Xiaomi announced that its popular Mi 3 will go on sale again in India during Diwali. That is however not the only piece of good news from the company, as it is also said to be making provisions to sell as much as 100,000 units a week during Diwali, Reuters reports.
Xiaomi’s VP Hugo Barra said that the company was ramping up its inventory to cater to the expected rush during Diwali. Barra also said that the company was chartering planes from Hong Kong to India to get more products in during this period. As of today, the most number of smartphones the company has sold on Flipkart in a week is 60,000. Last week, 60,000 units of the entry-level Redmi 1S went on sale on Flipkart, yet they were sold out in a ridiculous 5.2 seconds.
Xiaomi’s smartphones have seen a huge demand among buyers in India. The Chinese smartphone maker hosts flash sales on Flipkart every Tuesday, and its smartphones are sold out in a matter of seconds. Till date, Xiaomi has sold 95,000 units of the Mi 3 spread over six sales. The first sale lasted for just over half hour, five seconds in the second sale, two seconds in the third sale, and 2.4 seconds, 2.3 seconds and 2.4 seconds in the last three sales respectively. In comparison, the company has sold 180,000 units of the Redmi 1S across four sales. These sales have only lasted 4.2 seconds, 4.5 seconds, 3.4 seconds and 5.2 seconds respectively.
