After announcing the smartphone on a Twitter chat earlier this month, Micromax today launched the Canvas Spark in India. The smartphone is priced at Rs 4,999, and will go on sale exclusively via Snapdeal from April 29 onwards.

Registrations for the first flash sale on April 29 will kick off tomorrow at 12:00PM. Buyers are also entitled to launch day offers including two months of free 500MB 3G data for Vodafone users.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Canvas Spark sports a 4.7-inch qHD (960×540 pixels) display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK6582 quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone also features 8GB internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel selfie camera, and a 2,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include, dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

At this price point, the Canvas Spark will be up against the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 2. A detailed comparison table follows.
