Jet Airways has teamed up with Twitter for providing its users with real-time flight status and updates via the social media platform. The company announced a hashtag “#JetInstant” which will help travelers get the best fares and real-time flight details.

Twitter users need to follow @jetairways, and then tweet at them with the hashtag #JetInstant to get instructions on how to use the service. All the service instructions are sent to you via Direct Message. For example, to get the flight status, users need to tweet “@jetairways fltstatus <Flight No> <Departure Date in DDMM format>. Once you tweet at them with all the info, the information is instantly sent to you via DM within seconds.

Furthermore, if you’re looking for low fares, tweet ‘@jetairways lofares <Origin> <Destination> <Dep Date DDMM> <Return Date DDMM>’. A private Direct Message will be sent from @jetairways with the latest fare and a link to the payment page on the @jetairways website for that fare.

When we tried the service, it is as its hashtag suggests – instantaneous. The service response is within seconds and very easy to understand and follow. The feature could be very useful to frequent flyers who need to keep a track of their flight status and find cost-effective flights.

This is not the first time Twitter has integrated company services to its platform. In January, ICICI Bank introduced a feature where customers will now be able to do day-to-day bank-related activities over Twitter. The company launched #icicibankpay which offers several unique services like transferring money to anyone who has a Twitter account.

We even saw music-streaming service Saavn teaming up with Twitter to introduce a personalized tweet-powered Internet radio station for its users. The company launched a handle namely @SaavnRadio where it is now taking requests from users who tweet at the handle.

Last year, Amazon also rolled out a new feature allowing Twitter users to select items for purchase on the online retail site without leaving the micro blogging platform. The new feature called #AmazonCart allows people to link their Twitter and Amazon accounts for in-app purchases.
