Samsung launched the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7 in India last month. While the smartphones impressed with their design and specifications, the company faltered with its high pricing. Less than two months since launch, the two smartphones have got their first price cuts.

The two smartphones that launched at Rs 19,300 and Rs 23,000 respectively are now available online for Rs 17,900 and Rs 20,900. While these may not be huge price cuts, it is interesting to see how early the downward slide has commenced. At the time of filing this story, the official prices on Samsung’s India eStore however still remain unchanged.

The price cuts will be welcomed by prospective buyers, considering the smartphones were way overpriced as per the current market dynamics. Even with the cuts, these smartphones will continue to face tough competition from the likes of the Huawei Honor 6, Lenovo Vibe X2 and the Xiaomi Mi 4 among others.

To recap, the Galaxy E5 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display and is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM. Also included are 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 16GB internal storage, microSD card support, and a 2,400mAh battery.

The Galaxy E7, on the other hand, flaunts a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Also included are 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 16GB internal storage, microSD card support, and a 2,950mAh battery.

These are the not the first Samsung smartphones to get a price cut today. Earlier today, the Galaxy S4 too got a price slash, and is now available for as less as Rs 17,999.
