This automatically opening iPad Smart Cover display is the coolest thing you’d see today
Apple has something new to show in the storefront display at its iconic Regent Street Apple Store in London. In the storefront, several iPads with Smart Covers have been kept on display. While there is nothing odd or new about the upright placed iPads, the Smart Covers seem to have some new features. The said Smart Covers are seen opening and closing on their own, without the help of wires or any other visible human assistance.
The company hasn’t offered an explanation, though it makes sense since it never advertised this feature either. It is likely a marketing gimmick, and we are afraid it will never see the light of the day. There are probably magnets situated somewhere around the cover that are doing all the magic work. It will definitely attract lots of new customers to the store, though, and perhaps trick them into buying a Smart Cover as well.
Available for around Rs 4,000, the Smart Cover uses magnets to keep the flap locked up to the front of the tablet as well maintain its shape in various positions. But opening and closing the flap still requires human interaction.
