Microsoft announces Nokia 215, its cheapest Internet-capable feature phone yet

While Microsoft may not have much presence at this year’s CES, that hasn’t stopped the Redmond-based company from announcing a new handset. The company today took the wraps off the Nokia 215, its most affordable Internet-capable feature phone yet. The handset, which comes in both single and dual-SIM options, and is priced at just $29 (Rs 1800) before taxes and subsidies.

As far as the specifications of the Nokia 215 are concerned, it sports a 2.4-inch display with QVGA screen resolution. The Internet-capable handset runs on Nokia Series 30+ operating system and packs in a 1,100 mAh battery, which as the company claims will last for up to 20 hours on talk time, and 29 days on standby. It also supports up to 32GB memory via microSD card.

For the Internet experience, the Nokia 215 handset supports EDGE connectivity and comes with Opera Mini browser, Bing search, MSN Weather, Twitter, Facebook, and Messenger apps preinstalled on the handset. The device also supports FM radio playback.

The Nokia 215 will be available in Bright Green, Black, and White color options in select markets including Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Europe in Q1 2015.
