Microsoft is working on a web browser, codenamed Spartan, not Internet Explorer 12. Here is what announces very knowledgeable Mary-Jo Foley of ZDNet.com, that this would be a Spartan browser “light” near the style of Google Chrome and Firefox and accept extensions. However, Microsoft has chosen to use the Trident rendering engine and Chakra which he uses for Internet Explorer.

According to our colleague, the version for Windows 10 desktop computers will come with both Internet Explorer and Spartan 11 to prevent backward compatibility problem. The new browser will also be available on mobile editions of Windows 10 (smartphones and tablets), a new pre-release will be unveiled on 21 January. (EP)
