xiaomi-redmi-note-hands-on-11

It’s no secret that Xiaomi is planning on launching the Redmi Note in India. Hugo Barra too recently said that India was the next market to get the phablet after Indonesia. Xiaomi has now put up a Facebook post mentioning the Redmi Note, which is a sure sign that a launch is imminent. The post was first spotted by The Techolic.

The Facebook post is regarding a contest that started today and runs till 9:00PM tomorrow. Xiaomi has used similar contests in the run up to a phone’s launch, and the winner of this contest too will get a Redmi Note. With Xiaomi already selling the Redmi 1S this coming Tuesday, it is most likely to launch the Redmi Note on December 2.

The company is not known to sell two phones simultaneously, as was seen in the run up to the Redmi 1S launch. Before the entry-level smartphone went on sale, Xiaomi discontinued the popular Mi 3.

The Redmi Note phablet was announced in India earlier this year, priced at Rs 9,999. The phablet sports a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, and is powered by a 1.7GHz Mediatek’s MT6592 octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Additionally, the device also features 8GB internal storage, microSD card support, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and a 3,100mAh battery. The phablet is priced at Rs 9,999, and will go on sale on Flipkart like the other Xiaomi smartphones.
