A Facebook phone is not exactly a new idea, and after not-so-successful attempts with HTC, the social giant is looking at new hardware partners. According to reports in the Korean media, CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently met up with Samsung executives to discuss a potential partnership.

While neither of the companies have issued any sort of statement or confirmed such a partnership, the reports conclude that the meeting went well between the two parties. Not surprisingly, there are no details available about the hardware. A partnership between the two companies is not a long shot, considering Samsung recently partnered Oculus to develop the Gear VR headset. Oculus is currently owned by Facebook.

The social giant’s earlier ventures into making a phone haven’t been a massive success. The HTC ChaCha was the first device, while the HTC First is easily one of the biggest failures for either of the companies. In addition to developing just the phone, Facebook could also look at pre-installing its native app and Messenger app on Samsung’s wide range of devices.
